The Alshabaab militia group is one of the dangerous unlawful groups in the world. In Kenya, they have been attacking the nation more frequently throughout each and every year. In a recent attack, More than 10 Administration Police Officers escaped death after the vehicle they were going in barely missed running over a bomb on Tuesday evening.
Security operators speculate Al-Shabaab planted the Extemporized Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Mambore-Mkokoni Intersection close to the Kiunga KenGen Power Station in Lamu East, targeting the AP officers who were on Patrol.
Early Wednesday 10th October 2017 morning, Lamu County Commissioner Mr. Gilbert Kitiyo said an obscure number of intensely heavily armed militants were hiding in the bushes and shot at the Land Cruiser when it escaped the IED.
“Our officers responded immediately and/managed to overpower the militants. They fled/into the bushes. Luckily, all our officers escaped unhurt. It’s only the Land Cruiser’s windscreen that was broken. It was towards darkness when the incident happened so we are still waiting for more details from the ground,” said Mr Gilbert Kitiyo.
