Laikipia Senator Godfrey Gitare Kariuki is dead.
Mr Godfrey Kariuki passed on at a Nairobi hospital aged 78 on Friday morning, 30th June 2017. The news of his passing was broken by one of his associates going to a meeting with editors in Mombasa.
The lawmaker affirmed he had addressed Mr Kariuki’s child.
Deputy Senate Speaker Kembi Gitura affirmed the passing of the representative and sent sympathies for the benefit of the House.
Mr. Kariuki was a veteran government official and the most seasoned representative of the eleventh Parliament.
The senator, who joined governmental issues in 1959, served in the government of President Daniel Arap Moi and establishing President Jomo Kenyatta.
He was the main serving legislator who had additionally served in the primary Parliament after Kenya’s autonomy in 1963.
