year’s Olympic Games set for Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil. The women’s team had risen to its best
ever position (37) after winning the World
League One series event held in September 2014
The team beat Ghana to qualify for the second
round of the World League series, which were
held in February in Uruguay.
The women’s team has a total of 166 points
while the men have amassed a total of 205
Women’s team coach Jos Openda regretted that
the ranking indicated the country was going
backwards after making great strides last year.
“We were on a roll last year when we won the
World League One but we performed poorly this
year. We need to go back to the drawing board
and start again so that we can work on
improving because the country has a lot of
talented players,” Openda said.
