Kenya’s Top Athlete From Central Passes On


It is another sad news and to the athletics fraternity as a whole.

The demise of the 2012 Sendai Half marathon champ, who is an in-law to Rio Olympics bound Bedan Karoki, sent stun waves to sports club in Nyahururu.

The Japan-based Kenyan racer who had quite recently touched base in the nation fell and passed on in Nyahururu Thursday morning. Athlete Johana Maina fallen as he and partners were taking breakfast at a companion’s home in Nyahururu town.

Mentor Francis Kamau said Mr Maina he drove himself from Nairobi on entry from Japan.
“This morning he woke up and joined friends at a colleague’s house where he collapsed while they were taking breakfast,” he said.

News of his sudden demise brought about runners who had accumulated at the Nyahururu Stadium for morning preparing to suddenly end the session and hurry to the home where he had kicked the bucket.
The runner is among numerous who propelled their running profession at the Nyahururu based Mfae Sports Club.

The perished’s body is lying at Nyahururu Town Referral Hospital funeral home.
