Makerere University Council Calls Off Strike

Minutes after the non showing staff suspended the mechanical strike, the University committee led by the Acting VC responded by raising the closure boycott it had imposed on the institution.

While conversing with the media, Eng. Dr. Charles Wana-Etyem the Executive of the council proclaimed the University open beginning Saturday twentieth for fresher’s and proceeding with other students to go ahead Sunday the 21st August 2016.
The council has stunned the reporting by one day to maintain a strategic distance from the blockage and permit smooth running of administrations and reporting of the learners.

“The semester end has been reached out from tenth December 2016 to seventeenth December to give students quality training of course” said Ritah Namisango the University PR.

Jothan Burobuto the acting organization president encouraged understudies to report as ahead of schedule as 9am on Saturday for fresher’s. He included that the 2 remaining days of the week have been assigned to the cleaners to clean address rooms, workplaces and understudies’ corridors of habitations.

New to this improvement is the way that a supplementary admission has been set up till the 26th of August. This has been set to empower candidates who needed to apply through the online window however proved unable in view of the strike. All students who need to apply are along these lines called upon to do as such before the set due date.

The Academic Registrar has called upon students to report with their Provisional Admission Forms and the individuals who haven’t picked them up to go and collect them before Friday.

The Dean of Students said that the Bazaar and Introduction will be wrapped up beginning Saturday.
