Opposition Leader Raila Odinga’s ODM gathering was the previous evening balanced to hold the Malindi voting public parliamentary seat taking after a strained vote. ODM’s William Mtengo had opened a wide lead over his nearest challenger, Jubilee Alliance Party’s Philip Charo. With 73 of the 100 surveying stations reporting, Mr Mtengo had surveyed 10,677 votes against Charo’s 6,706.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission said portion of the body electorate’s 55,853 enlisted voters swung up to choose their delegate to the National Assembly.
The result of the by-decision, occasioned by the arrangement to the Cabinet of ODM’s Dan Kazungu, affirmed the Opposition’s strength at the Coast, where President Uhuru Kenyatta lost to Raila in the 2013 presidential vote.
