Supporters of the Opposition Party of Kenya, National Super Alliance (NASA) returned to the streets on Monday 9th October 2017. This follows as the opposition is stepping up its push for reforms at the electoral commission ahead of Presidential Elections repeat.
They protested in the capital Nairobi, Lamu, Kisumu, Kakamega, Homa Bay and Mombasa on Monday morning, heeding the call of the leaders to protest thrice a week, that is on Monday’s, Wednesday and Fridays.
According to the demonstrator’s, they are claiming that the IEBC should be reformed before the October 26th 2017 elections repeat, claiming the team of the electoral commission were the ones responsible for the rigging of the August 8th Elections.
The opposition wants both systems and personnel changes at the commission, including the dropping of Dubai-based ballots printer Al Ghurair and technology supplier OT-Morpho of France.
